***The following is a detailed recap of episode 403 of FROM, “Merrily We Go,” and it contains spoilers for the episode.***

Elgin is sitting at the kitchen table when Fatima comes in. He starts to get up to get out of her way, but she tells him that he doesn’t have to go. He mentions that Boyd says people can’t find out about what happened and that they should get their stories straight. She asks him if he is all right and he says he’s not sure if he deserves to be. Fatima tells him that she doesn't want to hate him and that the place took advantage of both of them. Fatima tells him there is something she needs his help with.

Boyd is dreaming of when Abby shot everyone. He wakes up.

Boyd talks to Acosta who has been locked in the jail cell. He tells her that he wants her to tell him she’s not going to lose it again and put people in danger; if Kristi had gotten hurt, they would be having a different conversation. She tells him that whoever that was it wasn't her, and she doesn’t want to be there. He says they are working on that. She tells Boyd that Kristi told her that she saw dozens of people with dozens of schemes to leave and what they had in common is they all died. He says this time feels different. She says that’s probably what they thought and asks for a bullet. She only needs one; she will go in the woods, and no one will even have to clean it up.

Kristi and Marielle wrap the priest’s body. Kenny comes in with the box he brought from Sophia’s father’s car and tells her they are going to take him down to the service now. She wants to have a minute to tell him goodbye, so he and the others wait outside. She tells the priest that he was fun, and she couldn't let him go without something to remember him by, and then she proceeds to pull out one of his teeth, smiling.

Jade is meditating and screams in frustration at Boyd when he asks him if he figured anything out. Jade says he knows it’s in his head and asks if Boyd has any acid or LSD. He says that Henry said Miranda started seeing the town after they took an acid trip took, which makes sense how the brain stores memory, and if worked for her, it stands to reason it could work for him. Boyd tells him to take a breath and that if he’s right and everything they need is in his brain, the last thing they need is for him to scramble it. He tells Jade to take a little time until after the funeral. Jade says he’s not going and won’t be missed. The best thing he can do for Tabitha and everybody is to find a way to unlock whatever is locked in his head. Boyd says to be careful, the message in the barn was not fucking around and whatever answers he finds, they don't know what it’s going to cost.

The town is outside at a double funeral for Jim and the priest. Ethan is upset because his suit jacket is too big, but feels the need to wear it, because at his grandfather’s funeral his father said that a man wears a suit to show respect.

Boyd gives a eulogy when suddenly a crow lands at the grave, cawing, then others fly in, circling them, making a lot of noise. Some land on the roof of the church.

Victor comes into the diner and says that when he was a boy, he drew pictures so he would remember, and gives Ethan a drawing of his family, including Jim. Ethan asks to go to Colony House with Victor, and she eventually agrees.

Kenny sits down with Sophia. She asks him if anything like that happened before, with the crows. He tells her everybody has seen them when they see the trees, but that’s new. She says that Sara said after Boyd found the talismans for a long time people were safe and asks when that changed. Kenny says it was around the night he lost his dad; they had lost the Pratts the night before, and then the Matthews family and Jade showed up in town. She asks if they came together. Kenny tells her not in the same car, but they got there the same time. She questions it’s been bad ever since then. He says that’s not what he means. But Boyd interrupts them and takes Kenny.

Julie comes over to Sophia and says she’s sorry about her father. Boyd meanwhile asks Kenny how Sophia is doing, but he says he doesn’t know; she prays a lot. Julie suddenly gets upset and starts yelling at Sophia, who tells her she didn’t mean to upset her. Julie tells them that Sophia thinks its their fault and asks Kenny if he told her all bad things started happening because they came there. He says that’s not what he meant. Julie leaves the diner and Tabitha follows her. She asks her mother if she thinks it’s true that it’s their fault. Tabitha does not. Julie asks why it felt like the crows were celebrating.

Sophia tells Kenny she’s sorry, and he just says it’s okay, but they need to talk.

Ellis walks with Fatima and says he knows they haven't talked much about what happened. Fatima says she is trying to be okay, trying to let go of it but doesn’t know how. He says he has an idea and to stay there he has to get a few things and runs off. Elgin comes out with a cooler and she nods to him.

Victor brings Ethan into his room, talking about his dad being his new room mate. He tells him it’s nice having a roommate, because there is someone to talk to if you are afraid, and that he can talk to him if he’s ever afraid. Ethan just asks if there are any lakes there. Victor tells him the Brundles are not far. Ethan wants to go, but Victor says he doesn’t like it there; the water is creepy. When Victor asks Ethan why he wants to go, Ethan just says he will find it himself. Victor tells him friends aren't supposed to keep secrets. Ethan agrees that if he takes him, he will tell him why.

Tabitha comes into their house. She puts the drawing in the drawer in the kitchen and sees a drawing of the lighthouse. She uses it to write a note on.

Meanwhile, Julie gets rope and a flashlight from the shed. Randall, waiting for her, asks what she is doing, if she’s going back to the ruins. She admits she has to get something from her old house that collapsed. She tells him that Ethan learned about storywalking from his books, and she needs to know if there is anything in there about how to control it so she can save her father. She says she’s going; he can help or leave her alone. He takes the rope from her.

Boyd talks to Acosta again, saying if she still wants the bullet, there is something he needs her to do for him first.

Jade is floating in the Brundles. Ethan says he realizes it’s not what he’s looking for. Victor reminds him that he promised he would tell him why he wanted to go there. He tells Victor that he needs to find the Lake of Tears, a lake with magical powers that can make people better when they are hurt. Ethan says he thought he made it up but, his father told him the day before by the RV that it’s there, and he needs to find it, and that maybe, once he finds it, it will make it better. Victor says maybe Jade can help.

At the collapsed house, Randall questions they are looking for a kid’s book, but Julie tells him that before she got to the town, she thought monsters were made up too. She talks about finding her father there when the house collapsed. Randall tells her to let him do it; someone needs to be up here if something happens. He tells her to let someone else to the “cool shit” for a change, it’s good for his self-esteem.

In the church, Sophia says that in the story Achen crossed all of Israel to suffer because he offended God. Kenny asks if that’s what she told Julie and that people there are always one bad day from giving up, losing hope. He says they need to figure out where she's going to live. He says he lives at Colony House, there are rooms there. She says there are so many people there and asks if she can stay at the clinic, but he tells her there are no extra rooms. She asks where Sara lives, but Kenny tells her it’s not a good idea. Sophia asks if it’s because of what Sara did. She heard people talking about it, but she has seen her kindness and doesn’t think she’s a bad person. He says she has no idea the kind of person she is.

Randall goes down into the rubble, looking for a blue bag with the books, but it’s unstable. He almost falls when a piece of wood breaks but is okay.

Boyd has taken Acosta to the basement of Colony House and tells her that they have storage sheds and the storage room at the diner with everything they thought was useful and left everything else there. He wants her to treat it like a crime scene and develop a narrative about the people the stuff belonged to. She questions why he doesn’t do it himself, and he says that she is a cop who was trained to do that, and something there could have been overlooked and could help them get out. She calls BS and wants to know why she is really there. He admits that she reminds him of someone he could have helped but didn’t. He can’t change what happened, but he won’t let if happen again. He says if she does this for him and thinks about the cop who put on her badge and still wants the bullet, they will talk.

Tabitha knocks on Donna's bedroom as Henry watches her. She goes in and leaves her the note. When she comes out, Henry tells her he thinks she went back to town. He asks if she needs something, and she says she is okay, which he doesn’t buy. She says she is going home, and he intends to walk with her. He tells her he doesn’t think she should be alone. Outside, he tells her that she is good at lot of things, lying isn't among them, and he knows she is not going home. He doesn’t intend to leave, so she finally admits she intends to find a way back to the lighthouse and take her children with her; she’s not going to let them die there. When she says she is going to go through the bottle tree, he mentions that Dale died trying. She asks what if it was not meant for him, but for her. He questions what if she is wrong. She says she has to try, so he says he is coming with her. He wants to see the tree his wife died trying to reach anyway. Tabitha starts to tell him about something, likely the reincarnation but doesn't finish.

Ellis takes Fatima to the broken cars.  He asks her if she has ever heard of a rage room. It’s a way to lash out and let go without hurting someone or breaking things. He offers her a crowbar or baseball bat. She takes the bat and whacks a car.

Jade has joined Victor and Ethan and questions that Ethan made up the Lake of Tears and now he thinks it’s there, because his father told him he needs to find it. Ethan, citing the red rocks at the settlement that his mother originally thought were a nightmare, says that maybe when he used in his story he only thought he made it up. He asks Jade what he was doing at the Brundles, and Jade tells him he was meditating, because he has to remember something that might help them leave. Ethan says they are both looking for something to help people. Victor suddenly stops, seeing the Man in Yellow’s suit and urinates in his pants. A crow lands next to him. He runs off. They run after him.

Randall finds Brick’s body. He sees the blue bag.

Kenny comes to Sara’s house and tells her Sophia wants to live there. Sara agrees.

Randall crawls over the body to get to the bag. He gets the bag and Julie asks about the books inside, and he tells her it has Grand Gooligog and The Chromenockle. As he climbs back over, a rat crawls out of Brick’s mouth, scaring him.

Ellis asks Fatima if she is feeling better, and she says it helped a little, but she’s going to go take a nap. He says he told Donna he was going to start getting things ready for the food run the next day.

In Colony House, Fatima checks that no one sees her then knocks on a door upstairs and enters. Elgin is shoveling dirt from the cooler onto the floor. She tells him it’s a good start, but she needs more.

At the bottle tree, Henry says that Victor told him that’s where Miranda was going when she died. He took him to her grave, but he doesn’t think he could bear to take him there. He says it looks just like the one she made at home, except for the hole. Tabitha goes to go through it, telling him to go back to town, but he stops her. He says he hoped she would realize it on her own, but even if she thinks it’s only meant for her, she could be wrong and end up stuck somewhere and questions what would happen to Julie and Ethan. Tabitha tells him she left a note for Donna who will take care of them. She questions she is supposed to just do nothing when finding the light house again could get everyone home. She says if it doesn't work, she will try something else, but he tells her she can’t if she’s dead. She asks him what else she is supposed to do. He tells her that if she wants to go, she’ll have to go through him first and that her kids need her.

Suddenly they both see the Boy in White. Tabitha asks him why he is there and why he looks so different. He tells her those are the wrong questions. She asks if the tree will take her back to the lighthouse and he says he doesn’t think so. She gets upset, because he said it was the only way. He tells her that was before. She tells him to stop talking in riddles. He says Tabitha is getting so close now, but he’s afraid she’s running out of time. Tabitha and Henry turn when they hear Ethan yelling for Victor, and when the turn back, the Boy in White is gone. They go to Victor, Ethan, and Jade.

Henry goes over to a crying Victor and holds him. Victor says that he told himself it wasn’t real. He comforts him. Jade, meanwhile, is shocked to see some mushrooms and picks them.

Boyd visits his wife’s grave. He says that it’s been a while. Things are changing, and he is changing. He says he has done and said some things and doesn’t know if he likes who he is becoming. He sits down. He says he doesn't know who else to be. He says that if what Tabitha and Jade say they remember if true, it feels like for first time they are close to something, but none of it matters if he can’t hold the town together, if he loses the people. He tells her he could really use some help but doesn’t know if there is anything she can do. A hand comes up through the ground and grabs him, but he pulls away. When he turns back it’s gone. He looks closer, and there is no hole in the ground.
