Dichen LachmanDeep in the American South, an absinth bar doubles as a deadly hunting ground for Countess Elizabeth Báthory (Mena Suvari) and her glamorous coven of vampires, who use dating apps to lure in and feed on unsuspecting singles to keep their youth intact. Everything runs smoothly until Elizabeth swipes right on the worst possible matches: a calculating undercover vampire hunter, Cora (Dichen Lachman), and a group of emotionally stunted men. From there, it all unravels into a fever dream of blood, seduction, and chaos, with fangs, glitter, and green fairy energy colliding in a savage grindhouse nightmare.

Lachman recently spoke with SciFi Vision about her experience filming the movie, including her excitement to be back in vampire world again, working with blood effects, building the character through voice, and more, as well as about the challenge of playing multiple versions of the same character across projects like Severance and Dollhouse, and how she relies on physical cues like body tension and movement to separate each version in her performance.

Vampires of the Velvet Lounge opens exclusively in theaters on Friday, March 20th.

Nathan Fillion Makes Surprise Announcement of New Animated “Firefly” Series in Advanced Development at Awesome Con

March 15, 2026
 - Nathan Fillion surprised fans today with the announcement that he and 20th Television Animation are in advanced stages of development on a new animated series based on the beloved cult sci-fi franchise “Firefly.” The reveal came during a panel and live taping of his podcast “Once We Were Spacemen” at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C., where the news was met by a packed, standing-room-only crowd with thunderous applause and enthusiastic cheers.

Fillion made the announcement alongside his former “Firefly” co-star and podcast co-host Alan Tudyk, joined by fellow original cast members Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, and Summer Glau that amplified speculation already building online.

The reveal followed a viral social media campaign featuring a series of cryptic videos starring Fillion and several of his “Firefly” co-stars. In the first clip, Fillion knocks on what appears to be a production trailer door as Torres asks, “Does this mean it’s time?” Fillion responds simply, “It’s time.” Subsequent videos featured Baccarin, Maher, Staite, Glau, Baldwin and Tudyk, which ignited intense fan speculation and generated tens of millions of views across platforms.

Gamers may have recently noticed Playdead’s Inside on sale on Steam for less than a dollar, which might not immediately raise expectations. Some players may also tend to enjoy multiplayer games more than single-player experiences, but that alone is not a reason to overlook this one.

It’s a fairly simple game. Players control a small boy running through dark forests, abandoned farms, and strange facilities while solving puzzles. There’re no dialogue or instructions. The game simply expects players to keep moving and figure things out on their own.

Strangely enough, that is one of the game’s most appealing qualities.

OutlanderRecently, Outlander began its eighth and final season. Thinking they’ve left the war behind them, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) Fraser return to Fraser’s Ridge to find a settlement that has thrived in the years they’ve been away, operating without their influence. The two discover, however, that leaving the war behind them is harder than they expected, and they soon must decide what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home as well as what they would sacrifice to stay together.

Recently, executive producers Matthew B. Roberts and Maril Davis spoke with SciFi Vision about the impact Frank Randall’s book would have on the characters, difficulties in wrapping up the series, and more.

New episodes premiere each Friday on the STARZ app and all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.

Spoiler Warning: Major spoilers ahead for The Great Flood.

Disaster movies usually follow a familiar formula. Something catastrophic happens, people run for their lives, the protagonist tries to stay alive, they encounter a major problem, and the story builds toward a final moment of survival… or sacrifice. That is how The Great Flood initially appears. The film may initially appear while browsing on a streaming platform, and it may not initially raise many expectations because it follows a familiar premise.

Okay, so at first, The Great Flood seems to follow that exact pattern. This Korean disaster movie, directed by Kim Byung-woo, throws the audience straight into disaster. The waters are rising quickly, the buildings are slowly collapsing, people are in chaos, and the main characters are desperately trying to stay alive.

But then the movie pulls something unexpected in the final stretch. The entire plot turned into something much more complex, and the ending introduces a twist that reframes almost everything that came before it.

That may explain why the ending confused some viewers. However, when viewed more carefully, the movie is actually doing something far more interesting than it first appears.

Post-apocalyptic shows have long fascinated audiences. The 100 stands out within the genre for its survival story, morally gray choices, and the difficult decisions people face when the world falls apart.

The entire series goes beyond survival in the usual sense. It’s not about surviving zombies or radiation. It’s literally about humans, how people act when everything has fallen apart, how far they are willing to go for survival, and how messy morality really is. The series also invites reflection on the modern world.
