Sci-fi fans should recognize Alex Zahara from his versatility across more than 150 television and film projects over the years, ranging from Jeremiah to Stargate SG-1 to Supernatural to Fringe and everything in between. More recently, he appeared in the film Final Destination: Bloodlines and plays the role of Principal Hartman in the supernatural series School Spirits.

Recently Zahara was kind enough to appear on SciFi Vision’s livestream spotlight series to speak not only about his role on School Spirits and the end of the season, but also about his prolific acting career and what’s next for him.

While crafting Hartman, the actor pulled from both the script as well as real-life school principals he had, as opposed to other principals on the screen. “I'm basing him on the script, what I believe his needs and wants and goals are, plus a little amalgamation of real people that I know,” the actor told SciFi Vision, likening it to a cocktail. “As actors, we're sponges. We absorb everything from everywhere.”

Zahara connected early on to the material and thought the concept was appealing because of his own beliefs in the supernatural. “I believe in ghosts; I believe in spirits, and that's why it's been a pleasure working on this, because I do think there's stuff out there,” explained the actor. In fact, he even offered up a real experience he had as a child, a visitation he believed was from his great aunt, and he knows he’s not the only one. “I'm not alone. There are a lot of people who have had ghostly, or I would say energetic encounters, and that's for real…There's no denying that there's something beyond our mortal coil, for sure.”

Nathan Fillion Makes Surprise Announcement of New Animated “Firefly” Series in Advanced Development at Awesome Con

March 15, 2026 - Nathan Fillion surprised fans today with the announcement that he and 20th Television Animation are in advanced stages of development on a new animated series based on the beloved cult sci-fi franchise “Firefly.” The reveal came during a panel and live taping of his podcast “Once We Were Spacemen” at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C., where the news was met by a packed, standing-room-only crowd with thunderous applause and enthusiastic cheers.

Fillion made the announcement alongside his former “Firefly” co-star and podcast co-host Alan Tudyk, joined by fellow original cast members Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, and Summer Glau that amplified speculation already building online.

The reveal followed a viral social media campaign featuring a series of cryptic videos starring Fillion and several of his “Firefly” co-stars. In the first clip, Fillion knocks on what appears to be a production trailer door as Torres asks, “Does this mean it’s time?” Fillion responds simply, “It’s time.” Subsequent videos featured Baccarin, Maher, Staite, Glau, Baldwin and Tudyk, which ignited intense fan speculation and generated tens of millions of views across platforms.

Recently, Outlander began its eighth and final season. Thinking they’ve left the war behind them, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) Fraser return to Fraser’s Ridge to find a settlement that has thrived in the years they’ve been away, operating without their influence. The two discover, however, that leaving the war behind them is harder than they expected, and they soon must decide what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home as well as what they would sacrifice to stay together.

Recently, executive producers Matthew B. Roberts and Maril Davis spoke with SciFi Vision about the impact Frank Randall’s book would have on the characters, difficulties in wrapping up the series, and more.

MGM+’s most viewed series in the history of the premium network is back for a highly anticipated fourth season. “FROM” unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest – including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down.

In Season Four, the closer the residents of town get to the answers they seek, the more terrifying their search becomes. Who is the Man in Yellow, and what does he want? Will Jade and Tabitha’s revelation be the key to finally going home? How much longer can Boyd hold
the town together, even as his body and mind are falling apart? And what role will the
town’s most recent arrival play in the events to come? Season Four will open doors that

Today, the final season of Outlander premieres on Starz. As season eight starts, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) discover that after leaving the Revolutionary War behind them, things have changed when they return to Fraser’s Ridge. It is now home to new arrivals and has become a thriving settlement since their absence. With all these changes they have to decide what they are willing to give up for the place they call home, even as it changes, and what they will give up to stay together. Also, family secrets are revealed that may break them. When Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) return with information from the future, it could mean death for one of the characters.

Alongside the central couples, the story highlights the next generation as Young Ian (John Bell) and Rachel Murray (Izzy Meikle-Small) begin building a life together at Fraser’s Ridge, welcoming the next generation of the Murray family, a sign of hope for the future even as the world around them becomes increasingly unstable.

Recently, Bell and Meikle-Small spoke with SciFi Vision about how becoming parents changes their characters, whether they were given or took anything from the set to remember their time on the series by, and how their lives have changed since starting work on the series.

From Guy Ritchie, who also directed the two films based on the detective, comes Young Sherlock. This installment, which takes place in Victorian England, follows a younger, disgraced Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), who after meeting none other than James Moriarty (Dónal Finn), ends up entangled in a murder investigation that threatens his freedom.

While inspired by the Andrew Lane novel series of the same name, the Prime Video series is not a direct adaptation, according to showrunner Matthew Parkhill. “I was like, ‘Look, I kind of want to start in a different place,’ because Andy’s Sherlock is a sort of 14-year-old schoolboy,” he explained to SciFi Vision. “…[t]he things I was interested in exploring needed to start with him older and in a different place.”

The showrunner admitted that he worried about creating a series based around the Arthur Conan Doyle character given how popular it is. “I had to find a way to sort of give myself permission or a creative liberty.” He went on to say that they did not touch anything after Doyle’s A Study in Scarlet. “I want to honor the books, because I love the books, but because we're dealing with Sherlock in a different phase of his life, we had to come up with something that was different that will lead into the books but isn't the books,” said Parkhill. “That, that for me gave me a sense of freedom that allowed me to breathe and to have some fun and to play in rather than being governed too much by the terror.”

Season two of the Apple TV series Hijack follows corporate negotiator Sam Nelson, who becomes involved in another crisis, this time on a U-Bahn train in Berlin. He is pushed to the center of the hijacking after criminals threaten his ex-wife, Marsha Smith-Nelson (Christine Adams). German police attempt to negotiate with Nelson, all while monitoring the train, but eventually, thanks in part to the investigative work of Olivia Thatcher (Clare-Hope Ashitey) and British intelligence officer Peter Faber (Toby Jones), they realize his hand was forced.

Recently, co-creator, executive producer, and director Jim Field Smith, spoke with SciFi Vision about creating the claustrophobia and tension for the series, and how they had to create a full one-to-one replica of the Berlin train interior that had to move in order to do so.

Season two of Hijack follows corporate negotiator Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) as he travels to Berlin, where he becomes involved in the hijacking of a U-Bahn train after criminals threaten his ex-wife, Marsha Smith-Nelson (Christine Adams). With Marsha placed in danger and used as leverage against him, Sam is forced into a situation that quickly draws the attention of German authorities who attempt to negotiate while tracking the train through the city’s underground system. As officials try to determine why Sam would carry out the takeover, much of the investigation progress comes from Olivia Thatcher (Clare-Hope Ashitey) and British intelligence officer Peter Faber (Toby Jones), who analyze and help connect it to the earlier airline hijacking and show that Sam is being coerced.

Adams recently spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series for season two, the difficulties in playing the more emotional parts of Marsha's storline, what she does to decompress, and more, as well as touched on her work on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
